Personal data: information we collect and use
The General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679 ‘GDPR’ introduces new controls on the way that organisations collect and use personal data.
We will seek the specific agreement of people with whom the Transport Container Standardisation Committee (TCSC) is currently dealing to maintain contact with them for the purposes set out in this Policy.
The TCSC website registration only collects names and contact details, to allow registrants access to our website.
TCSC also holds names for the preparation of the “pink book” directory, designed to let industry representatives know the up to date contacts in each TCSC member organisation. We may also record contact details in minutes and records, to note decision making. We do not hold any sensitive personal data.
Where and how we collect information
The TCSC website is maintained by ImageWorks. No data is shared by ImageWorks.
Currently the website uses Google Analytics to help track website usage. We have asked ImageWorks to ensure that any data used for this purpose does not contain IP addresses that may allow for the identification of individuals.
We understand that any relevant exchange of personal data with the USA would be covered by the EU/US Privacy Shield. The server for our website is based in the UK.
You can disable any cookies already stored on your computer, but these may stop our website from functioning properly.
For further information, please read TCSC’s cookies policy.
Who we may share information with
The management of the TCSC website aside, we only share names and contact details with TCSC member companies and their representatives.
Each time it is prepared, we will ask participating organisations to confirm that they have the specific consent of anyone whose name and contact details are supplied for any public document such as the industry “pink book”.
How we protect your information
Information collected will only be used and shared consistently with this Policy. Information is securely maintained and within the UK.
How long we retain your information
We do not seek to maintain personal data any longer than is necessary. However, limited amounts of personal data in the form of names and contact details in meeting minutes, past editions of the “pink book” and archived communications are retained, for archiving purposes in the public interest and in support of the scientific and technical work which TCSC undertakes.
You retain certain rights under the GDPR that allow you to inspect or correct personal data held by us, or to have it deleted.
How to contact us
You can opt out of further communications with TCSC at any time. For any questions about GDPR, data protection and information issues, or to raise any concerns you may have, please contact [email protected]
